We are all striving for an eternal home with God in heaven. “But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city” (Heb.11:16). Yes, we yearn for those spiritual mansions (John14:2), white robes (Rev.7:13-14), and crowns of life (Rev.2:10), that God has promised to all who love and serve him (Tit.1:2). The biblical description of heaven’s beauty is so wonderful it is beyond imagination (Rev.21:9-27; 22:1-5). This home of the saved is without wickedness and night. The radiance of God is the light. It is a place where God and his people are together forever (Rev.7:9-17). Can we even imagine living in such a place?
“God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write; for these words are true and faithful” (Rev.21:4-5). Can we even imagine? This place has…
- No pain. No heartache, headache, backache, toothache or joint-ache. No bumps, bruises or broken bones. No cuts, contusions or awful scrapes. No pain of any kind.
- No crying. No disappointing tears, injury tears, tears of bereavement or of the heart. No red runny eyes or swollen cheeks. No need of tissue or consoling shoulders. No crying of any kind.
- No sorrow. No grieving sorrow, bad-news sorrow, broken-hearted sorrow, or sorrow from a situation that has turned for the worse. No faces of dismay or despair. No need of being cheered up or have to look on the bright side. No sorrow of any kind.
- No death. No fear of dying or of loved ones dying. No home-goings or need of meeting on the other side. No death evaluation, trepidation, separation, or need of salvation. No physical death or spiritual death. No death of any kind.
“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city” (Rev.22:14).
