We have all imagined of being like someone. Maybe like a movie star, pro athlete, super hero, or beautiful princess. But, wouldn’t it be great if we could exhibit the enormous faith like brethren we read about in the bible?
FAITH LIKE JOSEPH (Genesis 39:1-23)
When faced with the temptation of adultery, Joseph responded with strong conviction and said, “…how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Gen.39:9). There is a crown of life for brethren like this who resist the temptation to do wrong (Jas.1:12).
FAITH LIKE ABRAHAM (Genesis 22:1-18)
When God told Abraham to take his son whom he loved and offer him for a burnt offering, Abraham obeyed without delay (Gen.22:18). Brethren like this who put God’s will first even above family show they love God more (Matt.10:37).
FAITH LIKE VASHTI (Esther 1:1-22)
When the drunken king summoned Queen Vashti to display her beauty in an immoral way before his guests, she refused (Est.1:12). Brethren like this care more about how God views them than the world of fashion (1Tim.2:9-10).
FAITH LIKE JOB (Job 1:1-22)
When Job lost his wealth and children at the hands of the devil, he responded, “…the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord” (Job. 1:21). Brethren like this do not serve the Lord for possessions (Lk.12:15).
FAITH LIKE RUTH (Ruth 1:1-22)
When Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi tried to persuade her in leaving her side to serve idol gods, she said, “…whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: they people shall be my people, and thy god my God” (Ruth 1:16). Brethren like this are committed to God and family (1Tim.5:4,8,16).
