As a nation, the majority have distanced themselves from God’s will in the bible. The bible’s warning against calling “evil good and good evil” is generally disregarded and redefined (Is.5:20). What now is considered right is largely determined by the popular opinion of the majority. Therefore, it is quite common for people to have beliefs which greatly differ from the bible. One such belief that has gained much approval over recent years is the sin of homosexuality. Homosexual celebrities and advocates have pushed a humanistic morality on society that is against God’s word, even calling homosexuality love. Although homosexuality was once widely considered a transgression against God, it is now widely accepted as a matter of how God made someone. Even now, many believe homosexuals are born that way. But this is as wrong as wrong can be. God is not the reason people are homosexual. Neither is anyone born homosexual. God gives everyone life (Acts 17:24-25), and does so in the womb (Job 31:15; Jer.1:5). To be born homosexual would be a contradiction of God’s word which has fully condemned homosexuality under all three dispensations of man-[Patriarch (Gen.19:1-24); Mosaic (Lev.18:22); Christian (Rom.1:24-27)]. God even called it an abomination punishable by death (Lev.20:13).

It is more likely that hormones and childhood influences are why some are attracted to homosexuality. Nevertheless, homosexuality is a choice of behavior defined by God as sexual lust. “And likewise also the men leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet” (Rom.1:27). No one has to engage in homosexuality. Paul said, “Flee fornication” (1Cor.6:18). Sexual sins have specific terms such as homosexuality, adultery, incest, etc., but all sexual sins fall under the term fornication. Thayer’s Greek Lexicon defines fornication (porneia) as “Illicit sexual intercourse: (A). Adultery, fornication, lesbianism, intercourse with animals, etc. (B). Sexual intercourse with close relatives. (C). Sexual intercourse with a divorced man or woman.” So consequently, to flee fornication also means to “flee homosexuality” and every sexual sin. The only relationship in which sexual relations are allowed are in marriage (Gen.4:1; Heb.13:4). God only joins males and females together in marriage (Matt.19:4-6). Therefore, homosexual marriages are equally condemned by God despite man-made laws that are contrary to this. “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29).

Again, no one is denying that people have an array of tendencies and attractions. However, some tendencies and attractions are simply wrong and should not be engaged in by anyone. Whatever is loved that God calls wrong is wrong. Whether it be alcohol, dancing, adultery, immodesty, gossip, or homosexuality. One cannot make it right if the bible teaches it is wrong (Col.3:17). Again, the standard of right and wrong originates with God and not with us.
