Concerning alcohol, there is no such thing as one harmless drink. And “drinking responsibly” is a misnomer and a contradiction. Alcohol intoxicates, and intoxicating substances dulls the senses and slows motor skills, which can put people at risk. This is why people are warned not to operate vehicles and machinery while under the influence of alcohol. The Bible teaches that social drinking is foolish and wrong (Pr. 20:1; 23:29-35). It is biblically understood that one cannot rightly comply with God’s commands while intoxicated. For instance, alcohol inhibits us from controlling our thoughts and anger, which is sin (2 Cor. 13:5; Jas. 1:20; 4:17). Alcohol physically hurts the body(e.g., liver, brain, bladder; 1 Cor. 6:19-20). However, despite the case made against alcohol, some will still argue that the problem with alcohol is in the amount. “One drink won’t hurt you.” I agree alcohol may have medical benefits         (1 Tim. 5:23), but, harmless? No way! Why must one be 21 yrs.-old to buy it if is so harmless? Why can’t underage children have some? Why is it so dangerous for pregnant women to drink? Why do so many lose their jobs, families, freedom, and lives, as a result of drinking alcohol? Not to mention that many become addicted to it and some end up on the street (Jer. 23:9;                 1 Cor. 6:12.) And so, if one intoxicating drink is so harmless, would we also agree that everyone could have one? Would one alcoholic drink be all right for disease control workers, nuclear plant employees, air traffic controllers, plane pilots, ship captains, school bus drivers, surgeons, pharmacists, soldiers, factory workers, police officers, fireman, rescue personnel, daycare workers, etc.???  One alcoholic drink is not all right for everyone, because it is not right for anyone!
