The myriad of denominations all claim to obey the Lord of the bible. But this cannot be true since there is only one bible truth for all and most believe and practice different things (John 1:17; 14:6; 17:17; Eph. 4:21). And, because the laws of the land do not prosecute false teaching, there are widespread “scams” and “kooks.” Many within the religious realm have lost or never possessed any sensible reason or logic when it comes to the bible. They teach contrary to the Holy Book they claim to hold dear, yet are viewed as competent. There are many others who are obviously conning and manipulating people out of their earnings and life-savings for personal gain without any criminal charges being filed. And yes, there are kooks too. These so called bible teachers are really unfit to function in any spiritual capacity because of their crazy views and questionable mental stability. But religious insanity is somehow viewed as divinely directed. Go figure.

Now for a religious scam or kook to succeed you have to have a sucker. This is a person who is spiritually gullible and easily misled. A sucker is not a bad person, just a uniformed person. And, that is how religious scams and kooks thrive; it is on the ignorance others! People who do not know basic bible usually put their trust in religious people (their education, appearance, behavior, success, ability, family, etc.); and they obey them without any bible proof. The bible sternly warns against this (Acts 17:11; Rom. 16:17-18; 1 John 4:1; 2 John 9-11).

And yes, there are scam artists and kooks even in the Lord’s church. The only way of not being a “religious sucker” is by being informed as to what God has said (Ps. 119:104-105; Mat 4:4; 2 Tim 2:15; 3:15-17). Only the truth can set you free from the shackles of “suckeritis” (John 8:31-32). Get your Bible, pen, paper and vow to make all Bible classes and worship services. Make regular visits to the spiritual tract board. Communicate often with faithful Christians and double check your bible. Don’t be a religious sucker—know your Bible!
